…Tooth Whitening & Zoom Teeth Whitening!
Tooth whitening (“bleaching”) remains the most requested cosmetic dental service, according to America Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Under the supervision of a dentist, tooth whitening is perhaps the safest cosmetic procedure.
We offer two methods of teeth whitening in both our Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton locations:
(1) Zoom!® Laser Whitening and (2) Day White® Whitening.
Zoom!® Laser Teeth Whitening
Zoom! Whitening is best recognized for its use on ABC’s Extreme Makeover. As with the Day White treatment, Zoom! lightens tooth enamel and dentin using a bleaching process. Unlike Day White, however, the entire in-office procedure takes about ONE hour.
Hydrogen peroxide, the bleaching agent for tooth whitening in the Zoom! whitening gel, is activated by laser. As the light breaks down the hydrogen peroxide, oxygen enters your enamel and dentin, bleaching any colored substances while leaving the rest of the tooth unchanged.
If you follow the simple, post-whitening care instructions, your teeth should remain whiter than your original color for some time to come. Proper follow-up care includes daily flossing, twice-daily brushing and occasional touch-ups with Zoom! Weekender or Nite White gel.
You may experience some sensitivity during the Zoom! treatment, although the warmth of the laser light should alleviate any discomfort. If your gums tend to be sensitive, you might ask your dentist for anti-sensitivity toothpaste, to be used prior to tooth whitening.
Day White® Tray Whitening
This popular, tooth-bleaching process lightens discolored enamel and dentin (the hard, dense material that comprises the bulk of a tooth). Unlike most treatments, Day White has a pleasant, minty taste and is well suited for those with sensitive teeth.
Day White tooth whitening uses custom-fitted trays to hold their bleaching agent. As with most whiteners, the actual cleaning agent is hydrogen peroxide. However, they mix the peroxide with the patented Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP) compound; a one-two punch whitens your teeth while filling in any tooth-surface defects.
You’ll wear the tray for just 30 minutes, twice a day, for a total of just 10 to 14 days.
